It’s the Third Century AD, and at the settled and mostly peaceful Romano-British fort of Cae’r Dydd, Merve, the son of the Roman Animal Doctor and a Druid Princess is free to get on with his usual chores: tending to his own growing menagerie, swotting up on his homework and on Imperial culture ... and keeping out of the way of his eccentric but powerful Druid teacher and mentor, Caradoc.

But when mad Senator Virilius arrives from Rome intending to take over control of an abandoned outpost up in Caledonia and create his own kingdom north of the frontier – intending on killing his old enemy Paul, Merve’s Pa, in the process – Caradoc has to bring his own plans forward, and initiate the boy early into his destiny as Holder of the Grimoire, the sacred depository of all the hidden knowledge of the Druids...

And so begins an epic adventure that will take the boy right across the face of the Empire, make him discover his amazing affinity with animals – especially his white tiger Shadow (rescued from the arena....), and then forward in time as far as the 20^th Century and the World War Two Blitzkrieg of the huge town that grows from his humble settlement.....

I’m a writer / scriptwriter / very bit-part actor based here in what us natives still call Tiger Bay – just across from the Torchwood hidden base, turn right at Pobol Y Cwm and Holby and watch out for rampaging Daleks...

Books

As John Leslie Sinclair I produce grown-up material, for instance my latest effort Pepper’s Ghost, and as Jacky Sinclair I write young adult and juvenile works, such as the first in my Roma Cymru series, Merve the Druid’s Boy (out January, sequel to follow in mid 2015)

And if you’re wondering why I don’t just call myself by my given moniker, John Sinclair, it’s because there is a prior claim to the name as the title of a series of best selling German horror novels....

Among other TV shows I've scripted are Fireman Sam, Chloe’s Closet (thank you, thank you, American royalties!), Igam Ogam, Hana’s Helpline and many more. I kid you not.

Journalism

As a journalist I have worked for everyone from the Radio Times on down (or up depending on your sensibilities), and along the way was sung at in Welsh by one of the Odd Couple, introduced the original Willy Wonka to my friend’s children, helped Eric Sykes find his glasses – without which he couldn't hear - , chatted to Doctor number two on Moonbase Alpha (while fiddling with James Dean’s camera!!), was thrown out of an interview with, then the actual concert by, Van Morrison, and stood there in awe as Superman himself flew over my head.....

Acting

Oh, and as an actor I've popped up in everything from Broadchurch to lots and lots of Dr Who, Torchwood, Sarah Jane Adventures (I was in the last scene the lovely Liz Sladen did) and of course scads of Casualty, Stella, Pobol Y Cwm, Atlantis, Wolf Hall, etcetera, etcetera. I have also realized that I can’t bear to watch myself on screen. A feeling that appears to be common among the viewing public.......

But I digress....

So on this here site I shall be talking up my novels and other upcoming works, give advance warning on when some of my TV shows are going to be aired (so you can get the kids away..) and regularly post some of my previous interviews and articles and other random jottings including bits that editors and other busybodies have removed prior to publication....
